Mathias Czaika

Mathias Czaika is a Professor in Migration and Integration and Head of Department for Migration and Globalization at Danube University Krems, Austria. He is also Research Associate at the Department for International Development and former Director of the International Migration Institute (IMI), both at University of Oxford, UK.
His research interests include (i) drivers and dynamics of international migration processes; (ii) migration and globalization, development and inequality; (iii) migration decision-making; (iv) migration policy formation and policy implications; (v) migration of high-skilled workers, asylum seekers and refugees.
Mathias has a PhD in Political Economy from the University of Freiburg, Germany, where he graduated with a dissertation on ‘The Political Economy of Refugee Migration and Foreign Aid’, published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2009.
