Dr Mette Berg, based at COMPAS and the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, is a lecturer in anthropology of migration. She received the award in recognition for 'her innovative and unique contributions towards teaching, particularly on the Migration Studies degree with the introduction of a migration fiction reading list, a fortnightly migration documentary series, and a 3-day fieldtrip to Istanbul, all aimed at deepening and enriching students' understanding of migration as a human experience.'
The MSc in Migration Studies degree is an interdisciplinary nine-month masters that introduces students to key concepts, research and analysis in the economics, politics, sociology and anthropology of migration. This is the third award to staff on the degree, both Dr Agneiszka Kubal and Dr Nando Sigona received the award in 2012.
