Existing literature tends to focus on the role of state-policies determining the prevalence of immigrant organisations. In this paper, authors Ali R. Chaudhary and Luis Eduardo go further to study how state-policies, socioeconomic incorporation, community characteristics and societal attitudes combine to shape the composition of an immigrant group’s collective organisational space
They find that, contrary to expectations, organisational space and size in not determined by state-sponsored multiculturalism, rather, the intersection of state-policies and the immigrant community’s socioeconomic incorporation.
