The article 'Measuring Migration Policies: Some Conceptual and Methodological Reflections' reflects on some of the major theoretical and methodological challenges to investigating the effectiveness of policies, and thus the possibility to control migration flows. It is based on the research conducted in the context of the DEMIG (The Determinants of International Migration) project at IMI.
This issue of Migration and Citizenship Newsletter of the American Political Science Association (Volume 1, No. 2) focuses on recent methodological developments in the study of migration. The article by Hein de Haas and Mathias Czaika was featured in a Symposium organised by Marc Helbling to grapple with the question of how to conceptualise and measure immigration policies.
