The Contribution of African Research to Migration Theory
Tuesday, 16 November 2010 to Friday, 19 November 2010
Dakar, Senegal
Hosted by International Migration Institute and the Institut Fondamental d'Afrique Noire
A workshop to further strengthen migration research within Africa by bringing together scholars from across the continent and discussing the contribution of African research to mainstream migration theory.
Following the previous two African Migrations Workshops held in 2007 (Ghana) and 2008 (Morocco), this workshop brought together researchers to:
- Evaluate and enrich the contribution of African research to migration theory.
- Enhance global knowledge of African migrations.
- Support the development of empirical research which is better connected with international theoretical debates.
- Provide a unique opportunity for participants from Africa and elsewhere to strengthen their scientific networks within and outside the continent, across the boundaries of linguistic and scholarly traditions.
