Diaspora Engagement and the Emigration State
Alan Gamlen
Migration and political participation constitute an original and necessary contribution to the study of contemporary migrations in the European and American context. This book focuses on the political activity of Latin American migrants in transnational social fields, while also studying their political relevance at the local, regional and national levels. Its approach takes a broad view of political participation, including aspects considered more formal, classical or institutionalised. Perspectives and actions involving migrants individually or through organisations or civil society bodies and states are addressed.
